View from the Dock is Cordelia Novak’s first book. It is written from the point of view, literally and figuratively, of a court interpreter, who sits in the dock, next to the defendant for whom they interpret.  At times, the interpreter is the only person in the courtroom who understands every single word that is being said. At times everybody is hanging onto their every word. Every word matters. Court interpreting can be lonely and stressful but it can also be, and often is, incredibly rewarding and enjoyable.
